CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT & INTERIOR DESIGN
I used my 3D visualization skills (CAD), Photoshop and project management skills to design & manage two full renovation projects. Both projects were designed from the “ground up.” The units were demolished, including existing walls, and I created all new floorplans. See final projects on Houzz.
- Used CAD to produce floor plans, elevations, and render 3D visualization
- Oversight of all trades: Electricians, HVAC, Plumbers, Drywall, Architect, Engineers, etc.
- Planning, managing schedules & budgets
- Determined architectural preferences based on purpose, function, and budget
- Smart home product integration: Remote access Nest thermostats, all living and bed rooms wired with Cat 6, remote access door locks, cameras and security system, etc.
- Selection of finish materials, colors and products
- Selection of all soft furnishings
For the Penthouse, I moved the kitchen to the front of the unit, to take advantage of the open floorplan and the ocean views. I used that space to add an additional bedroom and bathroom as well, to increase the overall value. The new walls were soundproofed, as well as the polished concrete floors. We kept the ceiling height by using “space pac” – a low profile AC system. The window treatments are all Lutron – both blackout and sunscreen shades. The entire home was rewired to make it a “smart home.” The master has two walk-in closets and amazing ocean views. Doors throughout are glass, to take advantage the sunlight. Thermometer appliances, including gradient stove top, a wine cooler and several under counter mini fridges for additional drinks. All the windows were replaced with hurricane glass, and they roll open to show off the ocean views, for a true indoor/outdoor feel. I am particularly fond of the ceilings in this unit, In the dining room, I created a curved tray ceiling to echo the custom stainless counter top, and all the bedrooms also have tray ceilings with LED rope lights. I also created a curved wall in the master bath, behind the bathtub, to set focus the curves of the of the tub.

This unit has all the same amenities as the Penthouse: Space pac AC, Lutron shades, polished concrete floors, sound proofing, high end appliances, etc. The layout and color palette are different, however, as this is a two story unit. I moved the stairs as they were obstructing the ocean views. Since the second floor was originally open to below, I reclaimed some of that open space and made an extra bedroom – joining it to the existing bedroom with a “Jack and Jill” bath. I also added a full spa-like bath on the first floor. My favorite design element in this unit is the dining room wall. The custom River Cyprus wall has 3 integrated doors that hide the laundry room, HVAC and storage closet.
